This started as a way to break in the new/replacement usb keyboard on the new 2-tier stand. The idea was to use the APC40 on the top rack to control Live 8 and enjoy the fuller canvas that the Q49 enabled versus the LPK25 I was lately relying on. It was a return to studio creativity instead of portable sketching / hybrid performance adding synth lines to DJ fun in tandem with a Korg nanoKontrol v1.
Stupid Line6 KB37 hasn't wanted to play along with the new laptop rig; it still only likes the main desktop which is barely used. While the Q49 helped test out the sounds, this track came together mostly in a hotel room in San Antonio around Christmas 2011.
Aiming for an uncommon tempo swing, the LPK25 did what was needed to create little loop lines using the piano and a couple synths. While not quite recorded on the fly, it was a quick session and a near live performance that resulted in the main track. Ain't gonna lie - this did take about an hour of chopping and muting and touch-up to compress it into a reasonable package. The final secret ingredient was running it through my personal recipe of EQ to add the 6SM stamp (until proper mastering comes into the picture).
This could be a great candidate for vocals, chopping for commercial use, or just a peek into a couple days worth of creative work by yours truly.
