Visiting a close friend in New York, he loaned me a guitar that was in his closet, left by a former room-mate. The strings were green with some mold, so I picked up some new strings and a winder/cutting tool at a music store near Times Square. Using a couple old socks, spit, patience and an online tuner, the axe came back to life.
The next day, after the strings had flexed out, I put it in the backpack case along with my Creative Zen mp3 player with a microphone, and went out to Central Park. While slightly windy and with limited audio quality, this is really a snapshot of a real life performance - kids in the background, helicopters, sirens - and yet the sound of the song I dedicate to my Mom seems to float through it all and tell its story.
