The pieces become quite spread out now, sometimes a couple done at one time. Each one brings back different memories - a change of house, a change of career, a change of perspective - recorded in different ways - perhaps setting up the portastudio, cheap Casio sampler and synth on a bedroom or living-room floor - gateing the cheap yamaha portatone keyboard through the Korg. Some, no doubt, were a somewhat nostalgic attempt to get back to what I was doing in the 80s.
So here are the titles. Only a few dates on these last tapes.
- Babysleep 2 (0:00)
- A Convergence of Cats (2:30)
(the Korg MS20 still with me - I didn't sell it until the late 90s....the last I know is that it went to a studio in London, still with the 5X0D able-label stuck on the front!) (22/09/91)
- M.M.E.World (5:31)
(from here on I'm using a Yamaha VSS 30 sampling keyboard, which I had honestly forgotten all about! http://www.synthfind.com/category/yamaha/vss-30/ )
- To Come Upstairs (11:20)
- The Name Of The Beat (13:56)
- 'remix' of Feel Love (17:53)
- Puff, The Magic Sampler (18:31)
- All In The Mind (19:37)
- Bit 1 (21:46)
- Bit 2 (22:09)
- Technic Idea 1: Shuffle (23:42)
(jamming on the Technics KN1000, top of the range model at the time, and my first effort to get to grips with understanding a new generation of home keyboard - built in sequencer, panel memories, rhythm pattern composer etc - boy did I get a big headache!)
- Technic Idea 2: Afrolimba (27:00)
(using preset rhythms and sounds - MS20 overdub on the first )
- playing with the sound effects buttons! (30:40)
- Final untitled bonus track (31:49)
(I imagine this last track - sequenced on the Technics WSA1, which I bought at a knock-down price from the music shop where I taught the keyboard for 18 years - was recorded in the mid 00s.)
The End.....?
