Paul refers to the preparations for this unrehearsed performance in letters 52 and 53.
My recollections (and I would be interested to hear the recollections of those that took part) are sketchy - the volumes of the different instruments are way out of balance - we probably hardly soundchecked - the violin is all but inaudible - and it was not clear what direction the music was supposed to go in. We were probably all travel and evening-tired.
I'm not sure that this recording is of the whole of the sparsely-attended concert, but it's all I've got, kindly copied on one side of a C60 for me by MAP.
As with the later BIG HARMELODICA concert, as Paul admits in his post-gig letter for that one, he had an idea of what he wanted but just assumed that the other musicians knew what he was aiming for. But the directions were too vague. This gig would have benefitted hugely from a rehearsal or trial run, of that I am certain.
So a brave effort, with some interesting moments.
My drum noises should have been more processed; raw, repetitive noise-bursts just ain't pleasant or musically interesting.
