Overview: Here at 500 Records, we are proud to release Form and Fate's third album, "Sol Invictus."
After three years since their previous release, Form and Fate's “Sol Invictus” reaches an entirely new pinnacle in their 10 years of creating thought provoking, instrumental, “post rock” music. From one listen, you can tell that no shortcuts were taken in the development of this album. The songwriting is creative and intense, drawing you in and forcing your attention. Influences of Mogwai, Russian Circles, Explosions in the Sky, ISIS, and Tristeza are evident but Form and Fate successfully create their own unique space in this crowded genre. Every new listen will instill new excitement and emotion, shattering any preconceived expectations of what post rock music should or should not be. This no fluff album is packed full with 10 Songs totaling 51 minutes. It is beautifully packaged in a 6 panel digipack designed by Daniel McKenzie(Rum Diary, Shuteye Unison).
Sol Invictus is exceptionally produced. Form and Fate recruited mixing genius Billy Anderson (Melvins, Neurosis, Red House Painters) to help further explore and influence the heavier side to their music. Recorded by Adam Myatt (Exodus, Port O'Brien, Giant Squid) at Sharkbite Studios in Oakland, Form and Fate push the envelope of conventional recording, experimenting with many textures and sounds to deepen their musical intention. Mastered by Justin Weis at Trakworx (Papa Roach, Gorilla Sleepy Time Museum, Matt Nathanson), “Sol Invictus” brings a full sound.
