This is my tribute to some of the great African-American entertainers who were born in my hometown borough of Brooklyn, NY. This was inspired by the "Roll Call" scene in Spike Lee's "Do The Right Thing" where Samuel L. Jackson's radio DJ character says a list of famous African-American musicians, though not necessarily from Brooklyn.I had always loved the music that was playing behind it--scored by Spike's brilliant composer/musician father, Bill Lee--but was always surprised no one tried to duplicate the idea, though I guess it was impossible to sample it since it was completely spoken over and didn't appear on the movie soundtrack.
I figured I might as well be the only person to attempt to replay some of the elements of the music and turn it into a tribute piece to Brooklyn so I hope even those who are not from there can still appreciate this and the artists I mention who made their impact on the entertainment world at large...and daring to add myself to this already illustrious list ;)

@Project 36: Really appreciate your comment and the perceptive analysis...as for a movie scene, I'd love if Spike Lee wanted to use it for one of his ;)

Very dope!!! Really feeling the jazz vibe of this track. The bassline is perfect! My favorite parts are when you mentioned the old school Hip-Hop artists like Dana Dane, Whodini, Fat Boys, Salt, Big Daddy Kane, etc... I can definitely see this track being used in a score of a movie with a scene of Brooklyn. Really nice job on this track!
