When I heard of this contest (http://www.indabamusic.com/opportunities/lalah-hathaway-my-everything-remix-contest/submissions/85723) and heard the song, it occurred to me that to really make this a challenge for me was not to keep it uptempo, but to flip the script and remix a dance track into a ballad...so there you have it ;) Funny enough, doing it that way, I actually listened to the lyrics and really heard the fullness of their meaning this way. I can hear this played at someone's wedding reception, perhaps lol
As for what I did? I simply used her vocals only, then decided to make it sound acoustic, so I didn't even quantitize or record to the 123 bpm metronome, but instead played it free-form. What you hear was all played on the keys, using Logic Pro 9 software instruments, and no loops/samples. Just Piano, strings, bass, and drums...and the incomparable Lalah Hathaway.
Not really concerned about the voting and what not, just did this for the fun of it and maybe get some free exposure, and perhaps even work with Lalah in the future? Who knows ;) I'm also posting on here for free download if you want a copy.

I dl'ed this, forgot it for a week, found it, and have been playing it thinking this was the original. I could have SWORN this was the original. It fits the vocal track perfectly. I'm genuinely saying that this is better than the original. Have I said "original" enough times? lol Beautiful RMX, sir...

I would recommend those who havent heard the original to listen to it to fully appreciate this rendition...you made a total different masterpiece here bro, kudos!

Thank you recent 3 for your comments :o) This remix was one I'm glad I decided to do as I've been exposed to some really cool people because of it, including none other than Rahsaan Patterson, who reached out through one of my supporters on Soundcloud to remix one of his songs, which I'm etching out ideas for now. This site is great! :)

Wow! I have to admit too...I didn't really listen to the original song until I listened to your version. I like this ALOT better as a ballad. Good job!!

Fabulous AS, it really compliments Lalah's vocals, topped the original mix by far in my book. I never even gave this tune a second play until now.
