I feel I sometimes have the most randomest (yes, I know it's not a word) mind when it comes to remixes. For all I've experimented with, this might be my first mashup of two completely different artists whose songs I've merged to create something new. And so is the case of this fusion of the late/great Heavy-D's "Nuttin But Love" with Diana Ross & the Supremes classic, "Reflections".
Well, I was posting 60s songs on my Facebook page and posted "Reflections" when I kept thinking, "I've always loved that intro when the bass comes in" and thought about what it would sound like in a continuous loop, and then I did it and wondered what rap song could fit in the same bpm and subject matter in some way. Somehow I ended up with "Nuttin But Love" and its lyrics about a gold-digger...which if you extract Diana's verse solos and apply it to that, as I ended up doing, then it comes out like this is the gold-digger singing about what she used to have and how sad she is now that the guy she was using got wise and shut her benefits off lol
Hey, it's a slight creative stretch but somehow it seemed to fit so here is the result. I literally did this just to get my creative juices flowing as I was in a bit of a creative block the past few weeks. Go fig!
*A capella vocals of Heavy D & Diana Ross/The Supremes from their respective songs
