Five of nine tracks from Maureen Toth's debut album SHINE (produced by Bernie Larsen)

Maureen shares some thoughts about each song:

    1. Boy & Girl - This song is about first love and how reckless you can be with it. It starts out like a story book to illustrate the distant nature of past memories and how they can feel like other lifetimes.

    2. Let It Shine - I wrote the chorus for this song far before I wrote the verses and just trusted that eventually the song would find its legs. The first time I sang it to myself I got really emotional and that would happen every time in the beginning. I had a feeling it would be a special song for that reason.

    3. Jane’s Song – I love the rhythm of this song. It is one of the most fun songs to sing because of that and because of the fabulous guitar and slide instrumentals by Bernie Larsen. I love the slide guitar!!

    4. Mom’s Song – This was a song I couldn’t sing without crying for months. I thought I might never be able to perform it live. This song is dedicated to my mother who was one of the most special and amazing people I have ever met. Oops, there I go crying again...

    5. Lonely Shoes – This song was inspired by a beautiful photograph given to me by Nathan – a most brilliant photographer and I wrote the song in one night as a challenge to myself by him. It was a lot of fun and I didn’t take it too seriously which I think comes through in the energy of the finished tune.
