Before You Start

So, you’re all set and ready with the awesome piece of audio you want to share, but before uploading your track, don’t forget to let people know more about yourself! Here are 4 essential profile elements to enable other SoundClouders to easily find you and learn all they need to know about you and your audio.

Username

If other SoundClouders are searching for you on the ‘Cloud it helps to make locating you as easy as possible by making your username clear, correct and concise. You can edit this in your settings.

When it comes to your Username be sure to display it as you would anywhere else, include spaces, capital letters and ensure it says exactly what you want it to say, it looks better in your audio embeds, helps you to stand out when using your audio in 3rd party apps and helps other users find you by using the Search Feature.

E.g. 'Snoop Dogg' not 'Snoop_Dogg' or 'Sn00p-Dog'

Profile Artwork

How else can you spot the SoundCloud user you're looking for? One visual key is their Profile artwork. By heading to your settings you can upload the image you want to showcase on your SoundCloud profile.

Tip: SoundCloud works best with 200 x 200 square images.

Social Links and Songkick Integration

There is so much value exchange connected with social networking, hence our focus on the social links you can add to your profile - why not pad out your SoundCloud profile with links to your website, Facebook, Twitter, Bandcamp and more!

Simply click on ‘Settings’ then click on the ‘Advanced Profile’ tab on the right hand side and connect the accounts you want!

For our community of musicians, we recently integrated with concert tracking site, Songkick, making it easy for all you lovely artists out there to add your upcoming gig dates directly onto your SoundCloud profile and keep all your sounds and tours in one place!

To enable Songkick on your profile, paste the URL to your Songkick artist account in the You On The Web section of your Advanced Account settings and three of your upcoming performances will be displayed on your profile.

Spotlight

One of the top requests we've received from you guys is to find a better way to control which of your sounds or sets should be displayed when people visit your SoundCloud profile. That’s why, late last year, we introduced Spotlight, a brand new landing tab for your public profile.

Spotlight comes with all Premium accounts and lets you select up to five sounds or sets to showcase your best work!

With all these tips in place you can have a awesome profile to go alongside your awesome audio!
