SoundCloud 101
SoundCloud for Field Recordings
"Top to bottom, SoundCloud’s interface is head and shoulders above the competition for our purposes. Uploading is a breeze and the transcoding process is really fast (and seems to get faster every time I use it)." Tyler from Going Slowly.
Field recording, or phonography, can be done by anyone these days - access to mobile recording devices is easy, especially with our new record feature and iPhone app! It’s a great way to document your latest trip, capture crazy noises or even use professionally for interviews, field work, making samples and more. And of course, once you’re done you can quickly and easily upload your collection and share your sounds via the cloud on your site, on your social networks, anywhere!
Take Tyler and Tara for example who are current travelling the world capturing sounds. Check out their SoundCloud profile or go to their site Going Slowly to see their travel diary complete with awesome photos and field recordings.

“When Tara and I started taking field recordings for www.goingslowly.com one of the first things I did was look for a service to host our audio. While I was considering options like Audioboo, Houndbite and Bandcamp, I found SoundCloud. Once I did, the decision was made for me.
Their embedded player is second to none; I love that you can easily download the original audio file, share the sound on social networking sites, and see comments all from the player, all without being a cluttered mess.
The long and short of it? Tara and I publish journal entries every day and SoundCloud gets out of our way so we can get to work.” Tyler from Going Slowly.
