SoundCloud for Comedy

SoundCloud is a great platform for comedians to promote their content and themselves on the web. If you make podcasts you can distribute them easily to your social networks, embed on your own site and push to iTunes. And with our record capabilities there are all kinds of ways to create some spontaneous content or interact with fans!

Podcasting

Take podcast Mike and Tom Eat Snacks for example. They use SoundCloud to submit to iTunes but also embed on their site and promote via their social networks.

Self Promotion

SoundCloud is a great way to promote what you are doing, your content and the like. We provide the ability to record via our site and our Android and iPhone apps. It’s an easy way to record quick snippets, jokes, audio messages and the like and push them to your social networks! You can record and push to facebook, twitter and tumblr within seconds. Here’s a guide on “audio push” - http://soundcloud.com/101/audio-push

Take comedians Michael Legge, Paul Scheer and Tiernan Douieb, who all use the SoundCloud iPhone app to record backstage happenings, general rantings and all kinds of other things.

Interact with Fans

There are three main ways you can get fans to interact with you more. First is they can make comments on the timed line of your audio, like you can see in all of the audio on this page. The other two are based around record.

Drop box - each account has a drop box. On the drop box is a record button, so fans can record messages directly to you via your drop box! You can even embed our Drop box widget onto your site so people know you are open to receiving audio.

TakesQuestions - basically allows fans and followers to record questions directly in the browser. These questions then get uploaded to your SoundCloud account where you can listen to them and answer them. The question and the answer then get uploaded to page for your listening pleasure. Take a look at this guide for more info - http://takesquestions.com/how-to and sign up for an account at TakesQuestions.com.
