London based but formerly from the North-East, Saint Saviour is a singer-songwriter with an unquestionable musical talent, and her haunting new-gospel ballads and country soul tracks allow her to now showcase her full range of her abilities as a singer and solo artist. Saint Saviour is a class act, the real deal, debut single “Woman Scorned” is direct, intelligent, honest, raw and consciously neo-noir, recalling a bygone time when female singers like Patti Smith and Annie Lennox were passionate, strong, stylised and dangerous.
Saint Saviour has many arrows to her musical bow and just one is that she is a lead vocalist/performer for legendary dance artists Groove Armada. She co-wrote several tracks on their new album Black Light, sang on a live Groove Armada studio session on 6 music’s Lauren Laverne show, toured incessantly with them as their front woman and generated rave reviews especially for her performance at this year’s Glastonbury (which lead to the set being the most tweeted of the entire festival). As a fierce live performer with Groove Armada she has picked up fans in high places, with Edith Bowman, Neil Tennant, and Steve Lamacq all giving praise to her stage craft and showmanship. Groove Armada’s Andy Cato has even gone as far as to say she is the ‘performer of her generation.’
Saint Saviour is now one of the most sought after guest and session vocalists in London, working with Joe & Will Ask, The Slips and Punks Jump Up, however she has never forgotten her Northern roots and upon meeting her that Northern warmth still radiates through. Saint Saviour is an artist who sings deeply from the heart; the versatility of her voice is key to her success, gaining comparisons to everyone from Maria Callas and Karen O to Kate Bush and Antony Hegarty - a testament to her strict musical practice routine.
Saint Saviour previously covered “Love Will Tear Us Apart” gaining 6Music and Radio 1 support from Rob Da Bank. The Sunday Times has listed her in the “What’s Hot” barometer along with a double page feature and Record Of The Day listed her in Ones To Watch in 2010. Saint Saviour is heading to the North-East for a one off live performance to highlight her debut single release and ever strong connections to the North-East, she is also headlining at London’s Bush Hall on October 23rd.
“A real giant of a tune from the Groovesters, graced by a mighty new vocal discovery (Saint Saviour)” – D.C- Sunday Times Culture - Sept 09.
“Becky (Saint Saviour’s real name) is the best performer. Some people have the X-factor and this girl has it” – Jessica Brinton - The Sunday Times - July 2010.
