Shunda K (Yo! Majesty) is the hip hop electro queen conquering the UK, after being voted in NME’s Cool list she now drops her second single taken from the upcoming debut solo album “The Most Wanted” (Jan 11th 2011). “I’m Da Best” is the follow up to “Here I Am To Save The World” ”which was released earlier this year and was one of NMES “10 Tracks You Need To Hear This Week” at number 2 right behind Kanye West. SO PUT QUITE SIMPLY SHUNDA K IS DA BEST!!!
Shunda K has reunited with former Yo! Majesty band mate Shon B for this one off collaborative release. “I’m Da Best” marks the first time that the two ladies have appeared on record together since the legendary track “Club Action” ” that started off the Yo! Majesty phenomenon back in 2006 and led to the band being signed to Domino Records.
Shunda K is best known as the leader of hip hop duo, Yo! Majesty, who are signed to Domino Records, but she has since pursued a successful solo career. Shunda K has recently been seen collaborating with electro superstar Peaches on the track and video for the song “Billionaire” from the Peaches album I Feel Cream (XL Recordings). Shunda K will be touring the UK for the second time this autumn where she will be headlining Ladyfest in London on 12th November 2010.
The track will be officially released on October 26th, as part of a nearly hour-long maxi-single featuring the album version along with remixes by a host of up and coming producers. These producers include Australians Generik (Coachella festival & U.S.A tour in 2010) and Benson, both remixes are squeaky clean for radio airplay
Shunda K radio airplay support comes from Radio 1’s Nick Grimshaw vs Zane Lowe, Kissy Sell Out, Giles Peterson, Annie Nightingale, Rob Da Bank, XFM’s John Kennedy, 6 music, Kiss FM. With huge support in press from Breaks, Electro, Warehouse, Urban pages, DJ Magazines single of the month, Gay Times, Clash, IDJ and in Hip Hop Connection magazine.
“Walking the dental-floss-thin fine line of religious beliefs and sexuality (being a Gay Christian) Ex-Yo Majesty Shunda K (a good friend of Peaches she seems keen to mention) promises to bring something a little more interesting to the table when her album appears later this year. Go for it Shunda, save us all” – Adam Irving, from July 27th, 2010 Blues & Soul
"Dis song dedicated to all my ladies' out there dat felt you had to sacrifice your bodies for a place in dis world." – Shunda K, Sept 2010.
